Extirpated is maybe a more precise word though extinct in the wild is often shortened to just extinct lately.

FT: How British politics lost touch with reality:The UK’s election campaign is part of a wider British disease: of politics detached from policy, of arguments about politics divorced from questions about whether you can even implement the proposals at the end of the day...

Part of the problem is how politics is covered. Starmer’s evasions on fiscal policy are treated as a natural, even savvy, outgrowth of long-standing voter anxieties about the party’s love of raising... [more]

I’d love to read a fan fiction about Camilla Cabello’s ice block purse keeping the MET gala rabble at bay until it melts away. I’m certain her designer/stylist team were one of the few that actually read and took inspiration from the Ballard short story.

MeFi post: The RPG Campaign That Became A Novel
Of course, the Feist novels also plagiarized part of the setting from M.A.R. Barker's Empire of the Petal Throne, barely bothering to obscure the serial numbers, but, considering that Barker turned out to be a Nazi, I find it hard to get too worked up about it.

I've seen some folks around the internet asking why Josh Gibson's 800-900 HRs didn't carry over with this other stats? MLB is carrying over only the official Negro League numbers of which he hit about 230 HRs there. All of the other bombs were hit during barnstorming games and therefore, do not count in his official stats. Negro League seasons were very short, so that explains why he has so few official HRs. Hope that helps.... [more]

Just two days ago my wife and I were driving around the peninsula. We were able to get as far as the Brimketill lava rock pool, about 12 km from Grindavik, before the road was closed. I wonder how much I would have seen if the volcano had erupted then.

They should be an opt-in feature, not something you need to hunt around in settings to figure out how to turn off (thank God you can turn them off, though - even if it's going to create a class of people who don't realize how bad it is for everyone else).

Bonus, now I distrust ALL of google's helpful search suggestions and not just the ones in the AI box.
