Looking for a particular Orwell reflection on colonialism and economics
Apologies: the MeFiite who posed the topic was the excellent praemunire.

Looking for an older anime about a mad scientist and sharks
I haven't seen Future Boy Conan, but the art's different.

I think it's Blue Submarine No. 6. I need to find episodes somewhere.

Who asked, "Why don't they remake *bad* movies?"
Thank you, BlahLaLa . Just pinged them.

I haven't seen any other potential sources for this quote, so I'll call it done for now.

How many university textbooks are open?
That BayView report is as close as I've gotten, kbuxton. Faculty adoption rates are vital.
But that's the demand side. It doesn't show us the supply - publication side.

cmdnc0, how are those texts noted as OER?

OER Commons is one tool I use for identifying one swathe of OER content.
But if it's the top half of a fraction, I can't pin down the bottom: the size of the learning material market.

I'm fond of COL, yellowcandy. I can ask them directly.

No luck with UNESCO yet.

Good to see that work on open pedagogy.

I've heard back from a series of experts. They don't have any good numbers on this. Several think it'll take a major research effort to start getting data.

Is there a self-description protocol emerging for videoconferencing?
I've only seen it in art or spirituality type presentations.

Lyn Never, can you say more about in what contexts people do this there? For example, do facilitators make a point of asking for it?

Which AI project should my students attempt?
And thank you in advance.

GenderNullPointerException: thank you for the pointer to Janelle Shane. She answered my email query very kindly.

Young Kullervo: thank you. The coding lack is a big barrier.

lollusc: that class could be a fine resource for the students wanting to go farther.

Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug: that Raspberry Pi project is interesting. I should check into the university to see who's using it now. I'll also ping Lobe.… [more]

Ender's Friend, I've considered Alexa, but students in this program are very privacy-conscious and anti-Alexa.

tinymegalo, those chatbots are an interesting idea, since they don't require coding. They might give my students a way of thinking about interaction and AI.

What would you ask Bill McKibben?
Good ones, JohnnyGunn; thanks.

Nice idea about personal/local details, Madamina. I added one. Will see about the open-ended one, too.
