Darren Aronofsky's films. I hate them. Even hearing a few seconds of Lux Aeterna fills me with rage.

Is there no way for to have metafilter inherit the user's light/dark preferences? For example, if user's browser is set for dark mode then display modern dark and if no dark mode flag then display modern?

While we're at it, perhaps a purpose designed high contrast scheme could also be added to help visually impaired folks? It never hurts to have such an option.

I'm probably in the minority with this opinion, but I think Metafilter should embrace its idiosyncrasies and the way it is out of step with time and the modern web. The modern web *sucks.* It took a wrong turn 10+ years ago and just keeps doubling down.

No amount of platform changing and new features are going to bring Mefi back to its heyday. Let it age gracefully, perhaps move to a subscription model or full-blown community ownership. Maybe organize an open source… [more]

Any general fundraising ideas would be great, along the lines of fun activities that can accompany the drive to encourage participation Requests for contributors for in-kind / non-financial ways.

I once dreamed of a long-eared turtle and I was so, so convinced it was a real animal. Yes, I know that turtles don't really have external ears. In the dream they weren't real ears, more like pronounced ridges that had earned it the common name of long-eared turtle. I searched through lists of species of turtles in an attempt to find it. I still feel like it should exist.
