Great production! Vox are a little hot in a few odd frequencies but overall this is great.
As for the songwriting; very tasteful and sophisticated! Really solid, professional piece of pop.

grog: all guitars were recorded live, but they were edited/sampled/looped, so basically you're hearing my best 4-bar take on each instrument through the whole song.

greenish: good ear! @Karlos - there is in fact a synth version of the song, though I originally composed it using Finale with the full intention of it being a string piece. At the time, I didn't have access to a quartet to perform it with, so I rendered the composition as a midi and imported into my sequencer for a rather silly result. The title is named for the image evoked by the synth version, but I retained it for the acoustic recording.

Nice! This brings me back to when I used to listen to a lot of that Alan Parsons 80s stuff. The chord progressions are great, and the arrangement is really tasteful and really restrained. Tasty guitar tone, too. Great solo!

Mmmmmmmmm..... this is LUSH, friend!

Commendable vibraphone and lap steel, as mentioned by pretty much everyone above.

My only possible suggestion: for a bass track, I could really hear a double bass... if you're at all inclined to send a bass-less track my way, I will very happily add a double bass track (or anything else you might fancy!). I think the song has marvelous potential.

Commendable use of the single, ultra reverbed handclap. Such a good sound! By sheer coincidence I'm working on a tune that uses that exact trick.
