Summer Hangs

I'm kind of past peak Zoom Yes, well said. Socially Distant BBQ definitely seems to be the go-to option for COVID-conscious IRL types these days; how does that sound to everybody? We can definitely use my place, that's all good by me. I know that angiep has mentioned a few times that she'd be keen to host, but the last time we talked about that was pre-COVID; obviously circumstances are, uh, a little different now. So I'll leave it to her to chime in on that.

Sure, I might be a tad late as I have to go grab my parent's car after work (Trying to avoid the train for now, and they are quarantined anyway), but I'll join up when I get in. I should be getting home right around 7:30 though. What platform should we use? I have Skype and WhatsApp on my phone, and could do video or text chat or whatever. I'm not particularly skilled in the ways of live conferencing, so if anyone has any thoughts, I'm all ears.

Trivia!

Yeah, I have no idea either. But Broken City was definitely fun, and it's fairly central as well. Their trivia night is every Tuesday - any dates in particular that would be preferable to folks? My Tuesdays are pretty clear for the foreseeable future.

On further consideration - why don't we just go with the Cat and Fiddle? I haven't been in ages so going back would be fun. They also have more dates to work with, which is nice. Thursdays are better than Tuesdays for me, but I can still make a Tuesday work with enough lead time. Given that folks get busier and busier as Xmas approaches, it sounds like the dates we basically have to work with are Dec 3, 5, 10 and 12. I vote the 12th, but can make any of those dates work :)

Alright, fair enough! The 20th it is, then. I'll confirm up the event, listing my place as the venue for now. We might want to look at an alternate venue if the weather isn't great and/or if there's going to be a decent number of people coming, my place is pretty tiny on the inside. Oh! I just remembered: parking! Our parking situation is a little bit curious. A permit is technically required to park on the street, but it's pretty much never been an issue in the 3 years I've been living here. None of my friends have ever gotten a ticket. Yep, agreed; works really well for this type of gathering. I'm down! So far we've hit Boxcar and Hexagon. I've enjoyed both (though Boxcar is my personal fave of the two so far :). Both are pretty central as well. Any other must-see cafes that have popped up as of late we should check out? I suppose if at least one person brings a deck of cards or something, we can go pretty much anywhere. Kensington Pub chess tournament?

Definitely. As suggested on the night, a fair-weather meetup would be awesome. My backyard just happens to have both a BBQ and a ping-pong table (left behind by previous roomies) so if nothing else you guys are welcome over for burgers and table tennis once it's warm enough. Having a meetup at someone's place was angiep's idea though, so I defer to her if she's still keen to host.
