Flying home from a work/leisure trip to Chicago. The highlight of which was s'mores patbangsu at Parachute, a hopped-up Korean shaved ice dessert. Chocolate shaved ice, candied red beans, mochi, puffed barley, toasted Swiss meringue, cinnamon-honey ice cream.

Easily in the top 5 desserts I've ever had, and maybe even the best. So many tasty flavors and complicated textures.

The section leading up to his saying he was going to donate the proceeds, about coopting other queer peoples work and rrasing their contributions, was very affecting.

His other work is great. His analysis of BBC's Sherlock is very entertaining, and his work about the games Pathologic and Dark Souls is also engrossing. I play computer games, so I can't guarantee non gamers will find them as interesting, but if you liked his style you might try them.

There is *no way* this person's small heart is going to grow three sizes (or whatever the idea is) over the course of approximately 80 hours of being forced, under penalty of jail time, to work in the fast food restaurant where she assaulted someone. They didn't even plead guilty.

I got the news yesterday that our 100-150 year old ponderosa pine has a fungal infection and is going to die "soon".

It's a drag because it's the largest tree in the neighborhood and losing it will change the area. Also because of how I process things like this, I can't help but feel like it's my fault somehow.

I really like his channel, and he covers a wide variety of topics in amazing depth. Currently watching his "50 Shades of Grey" series, and he's equally adept at literary/movie criticism.

Re COVID I was relieved to not feel absolutely miserable, but like... did it do the thing?

By this measure, the newest Moderna vaccine worked great for me, because I felt like shit for 36 hours afterwards. Muscle and joint aches, headaches, etc.

I finished Witcher 3 this weekend, and thought it was great. I'd heard good things about Baldur's Gate 3, so decided to give it a shot. After about 30 minutes I was ready to quit. It felt unfocused and confusing, and contemplated getting a refund. I put it aside for a while, then went back to it. Something clicked, and holy cats it's awesome.

Also a bee visited me while I was reading outside at a coffee shop Saturday morning.
